Olympic opening ceremony

What are your thoughts on the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics? What should we, as Catholics, do about it? A good analysis was done by Dr. Taylor Marshall on his YouTube channel. I know that Bishop Baron also spoke out against what happened.

My Bishop celebrated Mass with us yesterday, because we have a Seminarian hanging out for the Summer. It was very moving. We had about eight seminarians there to celebrate our Seminarian, along with his parents. Bishop Thomas, like Bishop Baron, also spoke out against what happened in the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

My Democratic friends are all posting about how this was not a mockery of the Last Supper, but was a unifying depiction of a Greek thing.

My Republican friends are pointing out how this portion was literally titled “The Last Supper” in French.

Whether this was a mocker of Christ or not is less of a concern to me than the push for normalizing trąns and pędophilia. I would expect atheists to mock Christ. Jesus even knew they would (John 15:18).

More concerning is the fact that one of these men exposed his junk on television and then seconds later hugged a child. I could post the freeze-frames here, but this would just be spreading it, which would be the opposite of what I want to do). Do I think this man intended to expose himself in this the midst of all this nonsense? Probably not, but the fact that moments later, he is seen hugging a child is very symbolic of how predatorial this nonsense is.

Leading up to the Olympics, my co-worker said, "You and your [six year old] doughter should watch the Olympics. I am glad that we are not watching Olympics.

I think too often, we can be too reactionary to these things, where we want to show everyone what we are outraged by, “Can you believe this?!” and then we post the very thing we are offended by. I would not have seen the offensive ceremony had the outraged not reposted it. Bishop Baron did the right thing in condemning it, but not overly re-broadcasting it.

I stopped watching Professional Sports, when it all went “woke” and political. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t miss it. I used to watch/listen to every Cleveland Indians’ game! I went an watched them win the first game of the World Series back in 2016. It was an amazing experience (even thought they lost the series). Because of pollical pressure from non-baseball fans, to change the name, they scalped Chief Wahoo and now are known as the Guardians. Half the people at the game still honor Chief Wahoo by wearing his gear.

I enjoy politics (as I was a Libertarian delegate at this year’s Convention). But, I do not like it when non-political things become politicized, which is what the opening ceremony of the Olympics was doing. It was pushing a trąns agenda, while putting a thumb in the eye of those who oppose it.

My response is this: I will now not watch or in any way support this year’s Olympic Games.
I will also speak against the atrocities at every opportunity.
I will not, however, do so first, only in response to another’s comments.

What can we do about the Olympic display, the only thing we can do is pray for them.

Here’s another in depth breakdown by Jay Dyer. Even though Dyer is Eastern Orthodox and obnoxiously anti-Catholic at times, he knows his stuff on the occult.

I decided not to watch the Olympics this Summer because of the insult to Catholics around the world. I hope more people will do the same.

I lost interest in Major League Baseball when it became a vehicle for promoting homosexuality. It’s a shame that the Olympics have been similarly corrupted.
