Whats your view on the idiom (The Devil is in the details)

I assume it means. Small complicated things are creating the bigger problems.

My understanding is that it means that something that looks good on the surface may have serious flaws that are not obvious at first. The Wikipedia entry linked above has a good explanation.

The best way that was put to me was, think of a contract. In big font they outline the basics, the duration of the contract, etc… And then you have the fine print. And at the bottom of the contract you have a line where you put your signature. So many people will look over the basics, but when it comes to the fine print, most people skip over that. Guess where the devil is? The fine print! Most people never read the fine print, but that’s where you get tripped up the most.

Without reading up on it (while a well-known idiom and so one I should probably know), I would hazard a guess and say it means that you will find more information from looking closer into a subject, the ‘devil’ inclusion suggesting a legal angle to the saying as lawyers typically if not always explore ways to discredit those called to the stand by the opposing council.
