What's your view on Elvis Presley

I think his best part. Is his Gospel Music collection personally.

My favorite Elvis song is “In The Ghetto.” My Parents had a record with that song on it and I would listen to it over and over as a kid.

But, I encourage everyone to listen to just the audio of Elvis singing “Are You Lonesome Tonight” where he starts uncontrollably laughing. Turn out the lights in the room and just listen to it (using the theatre of the mind). There are versions of it where you can see what is going on, but way better if you don’t know what is going on : )

I was once listening to Coast to Coast Live one night and a caller shared a story about how his car had broke down and two black Cadillacs pulled up. A man handed him the keys to one of the Cadillacs and said that Elvis would like him to have the car. I have no way of confirming the legitimacy of this story, but what a good gesture if it is true!

I don’t really have a view on him, but I wasn’t alive when he was big in the music business. He has a nice voice, and seems like a good guy, but I really don’t know him that well.

A great talent & I grew up when he was ‘King’ & love his songs, though I was really a Beatles fan.
But also a very sad story of somebody who couldn’t handle fame & who behaved badly towards himself and others. I hope he’s at peace now.

Peace to all,

Some of his songs were spiritualy motivated and very good.

I was always aware of His music, but never knew him personally.

Elvis Presley’s primary religion was Christianity, specifically rooted in his Southern Pentecostal upbringing. He remained a practicing Christian throughout his life, carrying his Bible everywhere and praying frequently.

Key aspects of his faith include:

  • Pentecostal Roots: He was raised in a poor, Pentecostal family in Tupelo, Mississippi, and was baptized at a young age in a Pentecostal church. This background deeply influenced his love for gospel music, which he often stated was his favorite genre.
  • Deep Spirituality: Elvis was a deeply spiritual man who struggled with the pressures of fame and the conflict between his lifestyle and his religious convictions. He often turned to God in prayer and found peace and comfort in gospel music.
  • Exploration of Other Beliefs: In his later years, Elvis explored a wide range of spiritual traditions and philosophies, including yoga, Buddhism, Sufism, and the Baha’i Faith. He read numerous books on these subjects and engaged in deep spiritual discussions with his “spiritual guru,” Larry Geller.
  • Inclusive Faith: Although his core faith was Christian, he was open-minded and inclusive of other religions. He notably wore necklaces that featured both the Christian cross and the Star of David.

Despite exploring other ideas, he never abandoned his Christian faith, and gospel music was a constant source of inspiration and peace for him until his death.
