Aren’t there walls protecting parts of the Vatican? Because if there are walls the Pope better tear them all down, to prevent “discrimination”.
And also why does the pope have security protection? He needs to lose the security detail because security and safety is probably “racist”.

A lot of people have an issue with the Pope’s hypocrisy in relation to the mass immigration issues when he finger-wags at countries like the U.S. but at the same time warns the world that there will be jail time and/or fines if anyone crosses the borders into the Vatican by any ways other than legal means.
I believe that it’s sadly, things like this that have contributed to the radical decrease in the acceptance of the RCC being a bastion of genuine morality in the world. The World has put Francis on “ignore” at least in some part because of things like this.

I would say this, how Christians ought to treat “aliens” and what policy should be are two different things. We are called to treat immigrants with dignity and respect on one-on-one basis, but we can support to protect our borders at the same time. Some view this as hypocrisy, but I do not.
I don’t like how many Republicans paint all immigrants as violent criminals and how many Democrats paint all immigrants as saints. The reality is that they are human beings (some good and some evil, who for reasons feel it is necessary or justified to enter our borders illegally). In some cases they are being used as pawns for political purposes, which is also not good.
You have a way of looking at things. There are leaders who are heart people (limp-wristed) and there are leaders who are head people. And then there are some who are both heart and head.

Not really but I grew up during a time when kids were free to play outdoors and do risky things and get bruises, didn’t wear helmets, we built launch ramps and danger was our name. Got into fights if we had to. We drank water out of the hose.
I may make people angry but these people that enter our country illegally deserve respect and to be treated with respect BUT they are still breaking the laws of our country. As long as they are enabled, they will always be hiding in the shadows. They will never fully be a part of our country. The more compassionate thing would be to treat them kindly and to assist them with gaining legitimacy. Then, it would be up to that PERSON INDIVIDUALLY to do what he or she needs to do. It was coming-the hue and cry to curb illegal immigration was coming, whether via Trump or someone else.

Pope is wrong. We are a country of laws and it is wrong to enable ANYONE to break our country’s law. Citizens have to follow those laws. This passage says it all:

Therefore whoever resists authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Speaking of obeying immigration laws, I’ll just point out that not all immigrants are here illegally. My wife, her sister, and our nephew and niece who live in the United States are all immigrants and all are now US citizens.
The thing is, no matter what anyone believes about Roman’s 13, or what any political persuasion says, it’s still illegal and it is really wrong to enable someone to break our laws, especially someone who is more or less innocent. I think anyone that misleads another person into committing something that is wrong will have to answer to God, much less to the laws of our land.
Having said that, does that mean that all of us can cherry pick which law we believe in right or wrong? I know what libertarians believe and ds or I agree with but mess your own life up. Not someone else.

It changed the way I view politics. Libertarianism is not an anything goes philosophy, as some believe it to be. That would be libertinism.
Put “The Law” in the queue of your next books to read (maybe after Left). It is not a long book. I read it in two sittings (and I’m a slow reader, because I like to take in every word and sometimes stop and reflect).
