I will try to keep this as PG as possible. Please take care while reading.
I looked up the breakdown of those on the Registered Offender List by their Party Affiliation:
Currently as of 2025:
Democrat: 40.5%
Republican: 33.2%
Unaffiiliated/Other: 26.3%
I could not find any data based on Religious Affiliation, as this is not public knowledge. I can only go off of antidotal, which is not evidential:
“Ben The Baptist”: Baptist Minister in the Town where I work exposęd himself to the High School Girls’ Track Team. He was charged with public indecency, a third-degree misdemeanor.
“Fr. Zacharias”: A former Priest in our diocese was caught providing drugs to young men (in their 20’s, but were groomed by him when they were younger students) in exchange for sęxual favors. He was sentenced to life in prison and ordered to serve 5 years of supervised release, pay a $500 special assessment and pay $25,000 to his victims. I had attended Masses that this Priest presided over and I always thought there was something off about him. He had a weir twitch and one eye would blink funny. Kind of how I knew something was off about “Jared from Subway” before his dark deeds came to light.
“Pastor Anthony” & “Deacon Ken” (People’s Missionary Baptist Church) trafficked under-aged girls and their Wives knew about it. Pastor Anthony was sentenced to life in prison and Deacon Ken was sentenced to 17 years.
Then there are the non-Religious:
“Coach John” offered six female students money for you know what and he was sentenced to 180 days in jail and is now has to Register. It was a plea agreement. He should have gotten more time in my opinion.
“Mr. Alex” was infatuated with one of his students, one day sending over 250 message to the student during school hours! Nothing explicıt from what I could tell, but definitely talked about a future together. Fired, but no charged brought.
“Mr. Elliot” set up a hidden camera in his Kindergarten bathroom! He was convicted of 181 charges and was sentenced to 56 years in prison.
“Mr. Alan” was let go after he was charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a mınor.
“Coach Johnny” admitted to having inappropriate relations with a student at a local motel. They believe there were other girls, but it was discovered after one mother called the Sheriff’s office and reported an incident.
And it isn’t just males:
“Coach Kathryn” had an inappropriate relationship with one of the girls who played for her Soccer team. Additional charges were added when photos were discovered on her phone. I believe this was while she was serving time for the original charges, but these new charges were later dropped.
“Miss Beck” was fired after sending inappropriate images and messages with students.
So, what is the answer? I believe these individuals know where the line is. I think some have very low impulse control. Others are ego-driven. Some are sick in the head and have cultivated fantasies and delusions.
When we were kids and would go out to ride our bikes around the neighborhood, my Grandma would say, “Stay away from “Chester the Molester’s” house!” Back then, seemed everyone pretty much knew where offenders lived (without a list), but people didn’t move as often as people do today either.
I have a co-worker who’s son was cat-fished by a decoy. Her son is clearly on the spectrum and was in his early twenties. He was chatting with “a girl” who said she was 15. She kept begging him to come meet her, but he told her he needed to get some food and that he didn’t want to leave the house. She persisted and eventually he agreed. It was the worst decision of his life. When he got there, he was arrested and charged with Importuning. He hired a terrible lawyer and had to Register on the offender list for 10 years. He now has isolated himself to his Mom’s basement and has lost all hope of a life of being labeled a “predictor.” He can’t get a job. His friends have all abandoned him. He orders food delivered, wracking up credit card debt. It is not a healthy situation. I believe that he has learned his lesson. I am not convinced that he would make this same mistake again. It is really said actually. It is as if there can be no reconciliation. I understand the importance of the list, but I also think it is unfair in some situations, where no crime has actually taken place, other than a young man in his early twenties being enticed to say inappropriate things to someone he believed to be 15. But, what if it hadn’t been a decoy and was really a 15 year old? What if I had thoughts of robbing a bank. What if I talked about robbing a bank. What if I went into what I though was a bank after someone talked me into it and it turned out not to be a bank at all? Have I committed a crime? Should this wreck the rest of my life? Should I be labeled a criminal? Maybe put on a list for banks to watch out for? Debatable.
My third Cousin was about to graduate form Law School to be a lawyer and something in his brain thought it would be a good idea to follow a girl into the shower. This was both pervęrted and an immoral choice! He was was put on the list for five years, but even after the five years was served he still remained on third-party activist websites by those who mean well and have made it their mission to protect others. He was able to get a job working for the company his Dad is well-respected at, but this is now his life. He spends time mostly with his family and girlfriend (maybe Wife). I do believe he attends Mass with his Mom, which is great! I have not talked to him in a while, because of my generation, I am about the only one who attends the Family Reunions. Perhaps I should reach out personally to each of my Cousins and invite them (getting way off topic, so I will end here). But, I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic.
