Greek Orthodox Priest and Government School Teachers Arrested in Ohio Sting

A Cleveland Orthodox Priest was caught in an Ohio sting operation.

The sexual immorality happening due to Priests is terrifying. One reason why I refuse to go to Church, cause of crap like this being committed on the daily. I refuse to support any organization that lets members of the Church hierarchy commit immoral acts.

It is in not just in our Churches; it is in government schools, Hollywood, scouts, sports, families, even in prisons, and anywhere fallen human beings are in places of authority.

There are more who are not doing these things than there are doing these things, so don’t let the bad keep you from the good. And we must hold the bad accountable for their actions.

What is most surprising about this Orthodox Priest is that he was 76 years old!

It wouldn’t be so bad, but why are we creating a business out of values that hueman beings hold near and dear to their heart?

I do not support any organization. I’m not a part of any charity, or any non-profit, because every organization has some form of corruption in it. But when it comes to being a part of a Church, it’s a whole different ballgame. Sorry but when you claim to be the true religion of Jesus Christ, and when you claim to be the ultimate authority on what you should and should not do here on Earth to have a good afterlife, people are going to hold you to a higher standard. It’s not like you’re selling a product here, you’re trying to guide people to Heaven. Well, no offense, but when people hear (or God forbid see) what Priests, Cardinals, or even Bishops do behind closed doors, it makes you look bad. It makes you look like a hypocrite (Rules for thee but not for me.).

It’d be different if you were selling a car. Most people aren’t going to dig deep into your background if you’re selling a car. You can be the ugliest hueman on this planet, but if you can sell a car and do it well, no one’s going to worry about your morals unless you do something to break the law or you’re posting something stupid on your social media. But that’s because you’re selling a product.

The Church, on the other hand, is trying to guide you to Heaven. So, we’re talking about morals here, because again, you’re not selling a product, you’re trying to get people to Heaven. So, it should come as no surprise, especially if you’re Catholic/Christian, that people put you up to a higher standard. If someone from the Church Hierarchy is doing something immoral, than they should be relieved of their duties permanently. It’s funny to me in the last oh….10 or so years that we’re just now looking into Priests who have sex with minors. And my response to that was “So it only took you this long to figure this out?! I mean…whose protecting these people, and why? Cause it’s clearly wrong for an adult to fondle a kid.”

There’s a whole list of reasons I can state as to why someone should never be a part of any religion, but that’s the biggest gripe I have. Because, the thing of it is, The Pope (or whomever’s in charge) can always say “Time to for you to find another job, cause this is obviously not for you!” But yet….it always seems like we’re protecting these people. I mean, what’s the deal here? You’re an institution that preaches morality, but yet your Priests for literally decades can get away with this stuff? I don’t think so.

I’m not one for hypocrisy. Part of the reason I don’t attend Church anymore is because I mortally sin every now and then. The difference between me and a churchgoer who mortally sins is, at least I admit up to my mistakes and hold myself accountable instead of being in a Church and telling others what they should or should not do, but yet I’m just as guilty of committing those acts too.

My Dad has gotten on my case before for not going to Church. And, unfortunately the man’s a hypocrite, cause he goes to Church every Sunday and he’s screwing his girlfriend every weekend. The hypocrisy is nuts around here. So whenever my Dad talks, I can’t take him seriously, cause he’s a hypocrite. If you’re going to be a part of any religion, you should at least adhere to the rules of that particular religion correct?

Again, I’m not saying I’m better than anyone else. I’m a flawed hueman being. But if there’s one thing I don’t appreciate are hypocrites. I don’t go to a Church anymore because I mortally sin a lot, and I’m trying to stop. I just don’t believe in telling people they should go to Church when I’m mortally sinning.

There are some things that shouldn’t ever become a business, and religion is one of them.

I agree :100:%. This is why I Pray that God cleans house. Get rid of the pervęrts and grace to faithful Priests & Bishops!

Yes, is sounds like your Dad is living hypocritically. And I Pray that not only recognizes how he is not living as a Christian aught, and maybe going to Church will help him see the error of his ways. It may not happen overnight, but over time, he may experience conversion. I would much rather this, then to turn away from God, because of his sin. I have a friend who lost all faith in God after he cheated on his Wife, whom he had five children with). When Adam & Eve disobeyed God, they too wanted to hid from God. Your Dad at least has not done this. And maybe it is because your Dad is not in awe of God. It is not up to me to judge your Dad, but he could go to Church for outward appearances and not inward. Pray that your Dad experiences conversion inward. When we Pray for others, we judge them less.

It is also true that if your Dad is living this lifestyle with his girlfriend, then he should not received the Holy Eucharist (1 Corinthians 11:27-29) until he repents (calls out his sinful behavior in the Sacrament of Reconciliation) and seeks Christ’s grace in this compartment of his life.

You know who else hated hypocrisy? Jesus : ) Christ called out hypocrites often and lifted up contrite sinners.

You don’t go to a Hospital when you are healthy (unless you are visiting someone). Going to Church is for sinners and for those who are visiting our greatest Love (God). Church is a place for sinners. It is where there is healing. Where the distractions of the outside world are quieted. Where conversions take places. It is where we are challenged to live better, which is why many stop going to Church.

It is good that your Dad goes to Church. It not good that he compartmentalizes his “personal life” from his faith life. He is trying to cover it up with fig leaves and God cannot be duped.

This past Sunday’s Gospel reading was about several men who were healed by Jesus and only one returned to thank Him. And this man was Samaritan, which makes it more unlikely that this man would return. Meanwhile the others may have convinced themselves that they were entitled to it. But the Samaritan’s life has been changed. He was not only healed externally (appearances), but internally (conversion). Hope this makes sense.

In The Other Side of Christ, Father Robert D. Smith wrote that it requires moral courage to go to church every Sunday, because the Bible readings will confront us with God’s requirements, although I suppose that some people go and don’t really apply the readings to themselves.
