Is God truly a "jealous" God?

There are a few ways of looking at this question:

Envy is a sin, but what is jealousy? Is jealousy the same thing as envy? Or can jealousy be Godly?

Also, if God is God and everything and everyone else is below Him, how can God be truly jealous of something/someone who is not God? Does this make sense?

Or is the phrasing of God being jealous more poetic than literal?

References to consider: Exodus 34:14, Deuteronomy 4:24; 5:9 & 6:15; Joshua 24:19; Nahum 1:2 & James 4:5. I may be going down a deep dive into this, so stay tuned : )

Peace to all,

Literally God the Holy Spirit Family was “Really” Jealous and The Holy Family fixed it, real “all” good in this case until something bad happens, “will never happen.”

God was jealous through the flesh for Mankind becoming again One Holy Spirit Family One God in being from the Power of The Holy Spirit Family becoming alive and living in all mankind through the flesh becoming in two natures becoming for all Creation in One Holy Family.

God, The Father wanted flesh and fuflilled love becoming through two natures in One Body “In The Christ” for all mankind and He fulfilled Creation from the Powers through His Daughter Mary, for His Son, Jesus, all Gods OMNiLogically becoming again for all Creation in One Holy Spirit Family One God in being.

Peace always,
Stephen
The OMNiLogical Pen of The Holy Family One God in being.

Yeah, cause there’s a God above the God of the OT. He wouldn’t have said that if there wasn’t someone greater than him.

Peace to all,

God promised eternal life to Abraham and swore by His Own Name eternal life from the spirit through the life in the flesh for all the descendants of Abraham and 2000 years later fulfilled His Promise in both natures through His Son becoming “In The Christ” becoming again for all Creation in One Holy Spirit Family One God in being.

The God of the Old Testament is From the Father of Faith from the Faith from Abraham becoming again through two natures from the spirit out of the Bosom of Abraham through the flesh “In The Christ” becoming again for all in One God in being a Family.

So true,

From the Spirit nature for the Flesh nature through Mary for The New Eve in Immaculate flesh becoming “In The Christ” for Jesus in The New Adam from Holy Spirit Incorruption becoming for all mankind becoming again for all Creation In One Holy Family.

Peace always,
Stephen

Peace to all,

Just think, logically, follow the pattern, from him through him and for him are all things, in him be the glory.

This is From Creation becoming transformed becoming glorified becoming again transfigured in One God in being, OMNiLogically.

We are Created from the Father, logically.
We are Baptized transformed through the Mother in the Immaculate Conception, logically through The New Eve, The Catholic Church.
We are for Jesus in the New Adam becoming “In The Christ” Sacrifice through Penance forgiven becoming Glorified to be able to become again from death through resurrection In One Holy Spirit Family transfigured for all Creation In One Holy Spirit Family One God in being, OMNiLogically.

So logically we are created from The Father from the failed spirit for the created souls of all through the failed flesh of Adam and Eve becoming in One Body, blood and water born to earth.

And become transformed through the Mother Baptized through New Eve, reborn logically.

We are created from the Spirit through the created flesh for the created souls of all becoming again in One God in being.

Logically, the flesh nature becomes from death through resurrection life Baptized transformed from the spirit nature from Sacrifice through Penance through the flesh nature “In The Christ” becoming forgiven becoming again glorified natures through immortality from incorruption transfigured in One Holy Spirit Family One God in being, OMNiLogically.

No, envy and jealousy are not the same thing. Envy is wishing you had what somewhat else has, particularly if you resent it. Jealousy means resenting what somebody gives to another that belongs to you or that you think belongs to you.

A friend of ours who is a few years younger but in her 60s can sit cross-legged on the floor and just arise to a standing position without help or even leaning on anything. I say that I envy her flexibility, but I don’t resent it. If I criticized her or made hurtful fun of her because she has something I don’t have, that would be sinful envy, I think.

A person could be jealous of the time a spouse spends with somebody else, even if it’s not an inappropriate relationship, just if the spouse feels short-changed and is not getting the attention that is wanted or deserved. People can certainly give God less attention than we owe Him, maybe neglecting worship in favor of sports, or even to the point of worshiping another god. God is jealous if people don’t give Him what they owe Him, especially if they give it to something or somebody else. God knows what belongs to Him and knows if we shortchange Him, so it’s not a matter of His just thinking it. That’s my understanding, anyway.

Fifth word on the Cross.

“My Jesus, at this cry all nature is shaken and cries over your
death – the death of its Creator! The earth trembles strongly; and with its
trembling, it seems to be crying and wanting to shake up souls to
recognize You as true God. The veil of the Temple is torn, the dead are
risen; the sun, which until now had cried over your pains, has withdrawn
its light with horror. At this cry, your enemies fall on their knees, and
beating their breasts, they say: “Truly He is the Son of God.” And your
Mother, petrified and dying, suffers pains harder than death.” Louisa Piccarreta

That’s a terrific and thought provoking explanation. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

God bless

This is awesome! Thank you for this distinction.

In the context that God is the only authority. Then… yeah. But its for a good cause. Its not the same as materialistic jealousy, which is the sinful aspect.

No problems Cade. Have a good one…

Hi Cade!

Jesus says (as I know you are aware) that what God desires of us more than anything else, is our love. There are so many rules given to us in scripture. Moses received the 10 commandments. When the Judaic clergymen asked Jesus “What is the most important “rule” for one who wishes to be pleasing to God?”, Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all of thy heart and all of thy strength.” Therefore this must be more pleasing to God than any other rule, or spiritual guideline.
I do not know the teachings of Bible very well, having been raised in an atheistic household, and then at the age of 25 becoming attracted to a spiritual teacher from the far east. But in our scriptures, like Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, it is taught that if one has love for God, all godly qualities become manifest in his heart without separate endeavor. If there is a similar statement in the Bible I would very much like to know about this.
Also in the Bible, Jesus says, in his sermon on the mount, that one can be a servant of God, or a servant of Mammon. One or the other. I think Jesus elaborates by telling us that being the servant of one makes one distant from the service of the other, i.e., that these two kinds of service are mutually exclusive. “A man cannot have two masters. It is one or the other.”

One who has spontaneous feelings of love for God in his heart………… only such a person will be always desiring to give pleasure to the Lord, because that is the nature of love. In this way one can be safe, beyond the temptations of Mammon.
Just like after Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days, and Mammon told Jesus that he could have anything his heart desired in this world, and Jesus said, “Get behind me, Satan!” And that was, “anything”. Not just a million dollars, or a new car, a new house, or to become famous, or powerful, etc. But, “anything”. But Jesus could not be swayed by earthly desires, even for a moment……..because of his love for God. Jesus was controlled by the “yoke” of love. And he invites us to “Accept the yoke that I wear.”

Therefore when we hear that our eternal Lord is a “Jealous God”, this means that he desires that all of our love be focused on Him, instead of on the flimsy temporal things of the world,……things that we cannot keep, and that cannot endure.

The point is that as much as we love God, we are blessed with God’s loving protection from the temptations of Mammon. As much as we love the Lord, He removes the temptations of Mammon from our heart. In this way, our love for the Lord is our only protection from the temptations that Mammon places before us.
So when it is said that God is jealous, this means that if we love Him, He gives us His protection in this way……but the moment that we falter in our cultivation of love for the Lord, His protection is withdrawn. It is in this sense that God demands our love. He will still love us, even when we turn our back on Him, because that is His nature. But in order to receive His protection from the allurements of Mammon, God wants our complete affection. And to the degree that our love goes elsewhere, to that degree, His protection is withdrawn. The choice and the responsibility is in our hands.
In this sense …… God is “jealous”. He never stops loving us. But He is only with us…..as much as we desire to be with Him. When He sends His son to us, this is His ongoing invitation to us, to abide in the Lord…….but from moment to moment, as the saying goes, “the ball is in our court.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :birthday_cake:

I haven’t read everything, but maybe the “Student” means that there’s a higher understanding of the one God than the the God as He is presented in the Old Testament. The Old testament concept is more about anger that demands obedience. The New Testament concept (I think Jesus teaches that he came to give us the next step in our understanding) is that “God is love.”, i.e., that love of God is a higher understanding of the nature of our eternal relationship with God than fearful obedience to the laws of God. Because, if love for God is in our hearts, obedience will naturally be there as well.
Obedience based on fear, is more about receiving God’s blessings in return for being good children of God. Obedience based on love is more spontaneous, and not about wanting anything in return except to feel the loving reciprocation of the Lord within our hearts.
Obedience based on fear is more like a business deal: “If I give God what He wants, He’ll give me what I want.” Obedience based on love is nothing more than desiring God’s pleasure, without asking for anything in return. But when someone loves God in this way, his heart becomes so filled with joy, that he no longer cares about anything this material creation has to offer. Like David writes in the 23rd psalm, “My cup runneth over.” Also, Jesus says, that we should be like the lilies in the field. God gives them everything they require without being asked, so why wouldn’t He take care of those who love Him.

So this is a higher understanding of what a “love affair” with God is all about. But for those who are making a business deal with God, hoping He’ll give us what we want if we are good boys and girls……that’s a lesser conception.
When children are very little, their relationship with thier parents is “Gimme, gimmie.” But when they grow up, they say, “All the time I was growing up, I was asking you for things; but now that I am an adult, I want to know what I can do in order to be pleasing to you.”
I think this is what Earth Student meant when he said that the God of the Old Testament is different from the God of the New Testament. The God is the same Person; but the appreciation of God as described in the New Testament, is for worshippers that are more mature.

I believe that Jesus says “There is so much more that I could tell you about God and the spiritual kingdom……but you are not ready yet to hear about such things.” Therefore God is presented by different teachers, prophets, in scripture, according to the cultural maturity in which the teachings are presented. “Fire and brimstone” may be required for some people. Others may be doing a “business deal”, being “good” to get a reward. Others may be ready to enter into loving reciprocation with God. Jesus is teaching love of God. This is my understanding.

Stephen Andrew…..speaks in his own tongue.
But what I hear him saying:
”There is a spiritual nature of which we are all eternally a part, connected. And from that spiritual nature, which is God, Mary comes to us. But when she comes to us in a form that we can percieve, in the flesh…….her flesh is immaculate, devoid of material aspirations and desires, like the rest of us. In this way “The Christ” is delivered to us “from Holy Spirit Incorruption”…….so that all mankind can become again “One Holy Family”.
Something like that. It’s a very nice concept, not out of line with the teachings of the church. But it’s a little different from the average “text message” on our Iphones.

Is God truly a “jealous” God?

The discussion explores whether God’s description as “jealous” implies a sinful envy or a righteous claim to exclusive devotion. Cade_One initiates the thread by questioning if jealousy is the same as envy and whether the term is literal or poetic, citing biblical references like Exodus 34:14. EarthsStudent suggests the phrasing implies a higher God exists above the Old Testament deity, a view Cade_One rejects. StephenAndrew responds with extensive, esoteric theological arguments regarding the “Holy Spirit Family,” the Incarnation, and the “OMNiLogical” unity of God and Family, which Cade_One finds incoherent.

A pivotal clarification comes from Literalman, who distinguishes between envy (resenting what others have) and jealousy (resenting the diversion of what rightfully belongs to one). Literalman argues that God’s jealousy is analogous to a spouse’s rightful expectation of attention; it is not sinful but a demand for the worship owed to Him. This explanation receives praise from CristoRei and Cade_One, while DonaldDuck agrees that God’s jealousy is justified by His unique authority.

Peter1 expands on this, framing God’s jealousy as a protective mechanism rooted in love. He posits that just as Jesus resisted Mammon through love, God desires our complete affection to shield us from worldly temptations. Peter1 further contrasts the Old Testament’s fear-based obedience with the New Testament’s love-based relationship, suggesting that the concept of a “Jealous God” matures into a desire for reciprocal love rather than a business transaction. Finally, Peter1 attempts to interpret StephenAndrew’s complex theology as a concept of spiritual unity and immaculate incarnation, though noting its unconventional phrasing.

Peace to all,

So true, Peter1, you almost have OMNiLogic from The Faith of Abraham becoming again for all In One God in being A Family, OMNiLogically. A “Jealous God” matures into a desire for reciprocal love rather than a business transaction through becoming again loving only and loving with only the bost love becoming unable to fail immortally undefiled incorruptibly transfigured through the Life from the Spirit becoming again in One God in being a Family.

This “OMNILogical” view posits a “One Holy Spirit Family” where God exists as a communion from the Father, through the Mother, for the Son. According to this framework:

  • Family Structure: The Holy Spirit is defined as the “Family of God,” a non-gendered or multi-gendered essence that integrates the masculine and feminine.
  • The “Mother” Role: Sophia represents the maternal or feminine power within this family, The Mother, Mary or the “New Eve” to facilitate the “God of Flesh Transformation”.
  • Trinitarian Power: The “OMNILogical” God operates through a trinity of powers—creation, transformation, and glorification—originating from three pre-existing spirit persons who form one God unified in One Holy Spirt Family being.

Andrew’s interpretation leans on the idea that this “Holy Family” existed before creation and that all of humanity is eternally called to rejoin this “One Holy Spirit Family”

Some mystical interpretations, by Stephen Andrew suggest Sophia is a feminine aspect of God that operates in concert with the Trinity. In this view, she represents an “OMNILogical” wisdom that encompasses the entire “Holy Spirit Family,” connecting the human family structure to the divine.

OMNiLogically, From The Father through The Mother for The Son are all things, In The Holy Spirit Family be the Glory.

The OMNiLogical Family Re-union, United we become again in One God in being, OMNiLogically.

I appeal to you, brothers, sisters, becoming sons, daughters, by the name of Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. (1 Cor. 1:10)

Saint Paul wrote Romans and Corinthians and 51.9% of The New Testament and brought the Faith to the Faithless in Corinth with Saint Peter for The Pentecost of The Gentiles. Stephen Andrew delivers The OMNiLogic of the Mind of God to the Faithful in Catholicism through The OMNiLogical Penetcost in 2026 A. D.

A jealous God wants fulfilled love becoming through the flesh from the spirit becoming in One Body becoming again for all Creation in One Holy Spirit Family One God in being, OMNiLogically.

A Catholic Joke for The Family:

A man dies and goes to heaven, and he immediately asks St. Peter, “Where is the Bosom of Abraham? I was promised a nice, comfy spot.”
St. Peter points over to a very crowded, slightly chaotic area and says, “That’s it right there.”
The man is confused. “It looks a little cramped and unorganized, doesn’t it?”
St. Peter sighs, “Well, what did you expect? It’s A Holy Spirit Family reunion from the Spirit through the Flesh that’s been going on for thousands of years.”

“Believe me, woman, the hour is coming
when you will worship the Father
neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
You people worship what you do not understand;
we worship what we understand,
because salvation is from the Jews.
But the hour is coming, and is now here,
when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth;
and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him.
God is Spirit, and those who worship him
must worship in Spirit and truth.”
The woman said to him,
“I know that the Messiah is coming, the one called the Christ;
when he comes, he will tell us everything.”
Jesus said to her,
“I am he, the one speaking with you.”

The Logical “Mind of God” is the Holy Spirit Family becoming through flesh from the Spirit in One Body becoming through no blood and water birth for Virgin Born Jesus through Mary from Souls of Family Gods preexisting becoming “In The Christ” for all mankind. Say that three times fast and you talk logically like Stephen Andrew. I Know. “That Stephen,” some say, “I could just pinch him!”

The Word is the Holy Family “Sophia” Entire Wisdom, undefiled logical intelligence becoming alive and living in all mankind manifesting from Powers of Gods preexisting through the created flesh for the created souls of all becoming Baptized transformed brothers and sisters from “Woman in the Word” through the New Eve becoming Sons and Daughters of God, for Jesus in the New Adam becoming unable to fail in all cases “In The Christ” becoming from the fulfilled faith and morality becoming through the Christ from Sacrifice through Penance becoming forgiven for all mankind becoming immortally and incorrutibly through One Body “In The Christ” from Mary for Jesus becoming glorified for all mankind becoming again for all Creation Immortally and Incorruptibly Transfigured in One Holy Spirit Family One God in being, OMNiLogically.

Peace always,
Stephen Andrew
