I don’t worry, but the world is much worse in many ways than it was 50 years ago. I don’t have to tell you how the United States has changed. My wife’s home country, the Philippines, has a reputation as a Catholic country, and to a large degree it is. Abortion and divorce are still illegal. Yet I read of growing atheism among young people, and I saw a statistic that more than half of the children there are born to unmarried parents. I don’t worry about our grandchildren there (a nursing student and a civil engineer), but every day I pray for their protection, not just from crime but from evil.
