Biblical figures we know are in Hell

Though nobody truly knows for sure, but the reason these individuals were likely given this opportunity was because Jesus had not been proclaimed to them prior to their death, because Jesus had not come to Earth yet before they lived/passed.

However, this is not the case for most living today. It is possible that if someone has never heard about Jesus, then maybe Jesus could visit them as well, but Scripture is pretty clear that there is a final judgement and that those who reject Christ, will not be saved.

I also like to add here that it is not God who sends unbelievers to Hell, but rather individuals choose Hell, by rejecting God. God wants everyone to go to Heaven, but gives everyone free-will to choose Him or put themselves/others above God.

I love Jesus’ parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). It shows how a loving Father lets his son to go live his life the way he wants to live it, desiring for his son to do what is good and true. And it pains the Father to see his son making the choices that his does. But, when the son has nowhere else to go, he returns home and the Father welcomes him with open arms and celebrates the return of his lost son.

I used to be a lot like the older brother in this story. But, I have since understood the error in my former ways and now, like the Father, rejoice when someone overcomes addictions, selfishness, entitlement, rebellion, or rejection of God and responsibilities and returns home to God’s kingdom.

Before, I might have uttered, Who does this guy think he is? I still have a little bit of this in me. For instance when someone who did not live an upright life passes and everyone makes them out to be a saint, ignoring the evil that they had done, and only highlighting what good they did. But then I am humbled by recalling all the ways I have sinned and not chosen what was right and just.

To love someone is to will the good of another.

I really like your attitude. It helps me to remember that instead of judging everyone, I should be praying for their welfare, wishing them well. Thank you for setting a good example for me to follow. Sincerely, Peter

Excellent statement!

The Church has never declared if there are any human beings in hell.

But the Bible has made definitive statements about some people in Hell that I posted.

I know Bishop Robert Barron and maybe even Pope Francis are/was a fan of Swiss theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar, who asked in his 1988 book, “Dare We Hope That All Men Be Saved?” if it be part of our Christian duty to hope that no one is in Hell. But, he also said that we are probably not all saved.

However, this has caused some to run with this idea that no one is going to Hell, which is not what Sacred Scripture tells us will happen. There will be a final judgement. There will be gnashing of teeth.

I think for individuals who do not want to believe that an all-loving God could send someone to Hell is loving, but what these individuals do not understand is that our Heavenly Father does not want us to go to Hell. He has gifted us free-will, because He loves us. God does not send us to Hell. We choose Heaven or we choose Hell by how we live our lives in Christ Jesus.

I think one of the biggest lies that the Devil tells souls is that there is no Hell (or that everyone is going to Heaven). He tries to convince them that they are gods that can manifest or control their own destiny without the help of our Lord and Savior. This is a fallacy and will lead one to Hell.

And, I do not choose God, because I fear Hell. I choose God, because He loves me and because He knows what is good for me. He loves you and has a purpose for your life. Reject the lies and embrace Christ Jesus, who shows us the way, the truth, and the life. Amen ♱

The Bible does say there are specific individuals in hell which is what I referred to.

Why would you call my post speculation about people in Hell when I clearly identified people who are in Hell according to the BIBLE. All Catholics must believe the Bible. Are you Catholic?

We pray against their deeds, not against their souls. (my thought). Jesus knows very well that we are sinful. But he prays to God to forgive us for our ignorant ways.
