Dear Pope Leo (or dare I say Francis 2.0), please stop this duplicity (Matthew 6:24).

You can talk about how Christians are called to be respectful of God’s gift of creation (stewards even), and not worship on the altars of β€œThe Church of Climate Change.”

Pope_Leo_Ice_Ball

Merriam-Webster online defines environmentalism as β€œa political and social movement focused on the preservation, restoration, and improvement of the natural environment” (also as a theory of human development that emphasizes the environment over heredity). No doubt people can make a religion out of the political and social movement. But what exactly did the pope say to suggest that he is following that religion? (And what the heck is that image? Is it somebody’s Photoshop effort, or an actual photo of the pope petting or blessing a giant piece of ice? Is that the altar of the Church of Climate Change? A piece of ice from space that fell through the roof of the Vatican?)

Have read online as follows: AI Overview: The term for humanity acting as a caretaker for God’s creation is stewardship: β€œWhile God is the ultimate owner, humans are entrusted with the responsibility to manage and care for the world’s resources and inhabitants on God’s behalf.” That doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Environmentalism……..from what I understand, there are aquifers that are undrinkable, because of the onslaught of industrialization. The stores are filled with processed foods that are saturated with poisons that are intended to prolong shelf-life. No life can grow in those foodstuffs…..then we put them in our bodies. I have read online that Americans have more heart attacks than any other country on the globe. There are cities in industrialized areas of the globe where people can’t go outside on some days of the week, because the level of the smog is too high. I have read that there are areas where the earth won’t grow food any more, because is has been poisoned with herbicides and insecticides. I don’t know what Pope Leo has said. But as the father of a very large family (the Catholic Church), I don’t think it’s a bad idea for him to express concern about the environment that we live in. The industrialists say that they only want to serve us. But my conviction is that they want to make huge profits, at the expense of the earth, the water supply, the purity of the air we breath, and the people who work in those factories in the third world, just to feed their families. If Pope Leo expresses concern over these issues, I believe that this is a sign of maturity, as opposed to not β€œmaking waves” that might upset the powers that be on earth today. I feel that he is being responsible in bringing these issues to our attention. It doesn’t mean he is making it into his religion. It means he’s caring about all of us. It is the earth that we stand upon that enables us to worship God. I think Jesus spoke about saving a creature that had fallen into a ditch, when he was accused of healing someone on the sabbath. Caring about the earth is Leo’s expression of caring about us. I think that’s really nice. Just like, people without food, can’t worship the Lord. Preachers know this. Therefore when they establish a mission in the third world, they open a kitchen to serve the public. The environment is our kitchen, our source of supply. I think Pope Leo on the right track. I applaud his expression of concern.

Cade acknowledged that the pope is right in telling us to be stewards of creation but said the pope mustn’t worship on the altar of climate change. But Cade didn’t tell us what the pope said to prompt this comment. That was my main question: what did the pope say to suggest that he is making a religion out of environmentalism? Also, about that piece of ice …

No, a piece of ice from space did not fall through the roof of the Vatican. That is a false story. Pope Leo XIV blessed a large block of ancient glacial ice from Greenland.

It isn’t that he blessed a block of ice, though blessings are usually meant for items that are used to glorify God or for requesting protection (which could qualify here), it is the optics of it all. I did not watch the entire thing, but there were other rituals performed by others directed to Mother Earth.

Climate change is a tenant of a particular political ideology, intended to redistribute wealth.

Either Pope Leo is being deceived, believes in using fear to redistribute wealth, worships Mother Earth (blasphemy), or believes ecumenism is wise in this case (I do not believe it is wise).

Pope Francis entertained Pachamama and that was a disaster.

Mother Nature and Pachamama are idols and not to be entertained, but rejected outright. The Pope of all people should certainly not be entertaining such idols. The Pope should read the writings of the Early Church Fathers and his role is to protect the deposit of Faith that has been handed down to him from the Apostles and their successors. He should not be entertaining false idols nor worshipers of false idols. It causes confusion and a lot of memes are mocking him for it. Not that I care what meme-culture has to say, but they have a right to mock the Pope in this case. He is doing silly things, so he gets silly responses.

Cade, that is harsh! It was my comical suggestion. And I read that the ice is 20,000 years old. Older than Adam, me, and maybe you! (I’m just yanking your chain, Cade.) I wish it had been a piece of ice from space or that the image had been a Photoshop effort. :frowning: But that leads to a serious suggestion for people posting messages on the forum: label your images, saying what they show, where the picture came from, etc.

Peace to all,

Created from the Father Earth and Universe is Sanctification from Mary becoming through the New Eve for all mankind through Eternal Spirit Incorruption from Jesus in the New Adam becoming immortalization and incorruption for the New Heaven and Earth through both natures, spirit and life becoming One Body through the Christ for all mankind becoming again in all creation One Catholic Family, I believe.

Peace always,

Stephen

I wasn’t sure. You need to work on your delivery ; )

There you go. Much better : )

Fair point. I will try to remember this in the future or link the picture to an article that does give it more context.

On a positive note, Pope Leo was asked about President Trump’s policies this week and Leo said that he will not be commenting on politics. That is the correct answer when someone is shoving a microphone in your face for a soundbite to push their political agendas.

O Cade! I gave you jokes with free delivery. And I really thought that ice picture was somebody’s joke.

Peace to all,

Trump has the logical job politically and religiously becoming a case for World Order, I believe? The Pope has a logical job politically and religiously in a similar manner, I believe, we know we, are not judging or preaching and speak only in generalization, I believe.

In all generalizations, mankind renders to God and to Ceasar, both natures, and logically all Caesars renders to the same God, I believe. Jesus already asked, β€œWhose face is on the coin?” and we are not judging or proselytizing only generalizing for all mankind becoming again One Family, I believe in what becomes again One God through all natures, flesh, spirit and politics, all finite disciplines, all becoming fulfilled through failed choice with a chance of even not loving becoming again for all creation loving only and loving with only the most love in One Family, I believe. Logically we cannot fail loving only loving with only the most love, I beliEVE.

Peace always,
Stephen
