I am a cradle Catholic . I left the Church for awhile due to the disastrous lack of reverence during Mass . Nothing makes sense to me . Everything seems to be about how far the laity are clericalized and how laicized the clergy can be . If we were to observe the documents of the Second Vatican council or even the rubrics of the Mass we’d lose most of what I refer to as the Mini Priests . I find all of this extremely disheartening . Where I live , Santa Barbara , CA you cannot find a Mass that is reverent or simply about its purpose , the sacrifice that was made and the focus on the Blessed Sacrament which we have alone , body , blood , soul and divinity . The reason we have so much ignorance regarding the Eucharist is due to the lack of catechesis since the council. Now there’s conferences and bulletins and announcements and the good ole USCCB clamoring about it but not wanting to address the real issue for fear of admitting past mistakes or forbid ! Hurting someone’s feelings . More and more the Church is becoming a lost cause .

Do not lose hope. Continue to Pray and be a beacon of light in our time of darkness. Some of the most faithful Saints came out of the dark ages. Throughout Church History there have been peeks and valleys. A very faithful man, who knew more about the Bible than anyone I have ever gotten to know, made this point. Prayers for the soul of Dr. Kuttothara.
