Cardinal Robert Sarah (whom I Prayed would be our Pope) spoke to the European Parliament and stated that gender ideology and Islamic fundamentalism are two “apocalyptic beasts” of our time.
He comes from Africa where many Catholic Christians are being slaughtered on their way to and from Mass by fundamentalist Muslims!
And he recognizes the current push in our culture to normalize the religion of gender ideology (my words not his).
Islam is a theocracy at its heart and so making it wholly fundamentalist; the difference, if you get a Muslim who happens to ignore all the bits about killing the infidels. But yes, Islam is a threat to humanity’s freedoms unless you want to live in a worldwide dictatorship. Apocalyptic? But why, particularly? It’s always a threat, going back to the early centuries. It appears as an end of world catalyst because the US underwent terrible events at their hands, while the US also did a lot to counter the surge forward post 9/11.
Gender Reidentification is not exactly apocalyptic, either. It is just bad for humanity in terms of the world getting more and more ill. It is not, however, an end of world scenario.
Globalism (global socialism), is. I know I’ve mentioned this before since being on here but which doesn’t make it less true. I am not agenda-posting. The biggest threat to humankind is globalism. The Devil is behind it.
Discussing apocalyptic likelihoods is more complicated anyway than picking out dangers throughout the world, as we have to take into account all else said in The Book of Revelation such as the Anti-Christ and the Beast, etc…and what they represent and could in fact be, e.g. an individual or movement or country…and how they tie in with an apocalyptic scenario.
So could The Beast and The Apocalypse “capture” many immoral subjects in the world. I don’t think these two do, really, beyond dramatic use of a term. LGB more than Islam, maybe, as it threatens the family and is introduced into education as normal and which is more snake-like in its movement than Islam that is a religion everyone in the world apart from Muslims (and some dumb Brits) want to have vanquished from the planet, i.e. there is sufficient opposition in the form of firepower to ensure a non-Apocalypse from the direction of Islam. In terms of LGB…still no. Not really. Afficionados will incur diseases and die out. That’s their future. While pharmaceutical companies reap the benefits.
Cardinal Sarah is a bit too uncomfortably right beyond your everyday right-winger Bishop.
I forgot to say that I just saw a YouTube vid where it is being said that LGB is starting (a fight) on Islam. I think that would be an interesting bout. Death by dolly. As far as I am concerned, ‘The enemy of my enemy…’, or for those who express a certain dedication to Latin and which I might have done had Trad Caths not ruined it for everyone, ‘Amicus meus, inimicus inimici mei’.
My opinion, from personal experience and therefore limited, is that Muslims in America are generally not hostile to other faiths or Christian values. Some are, I imagine, but I haven’t met them. The ones I’ve known are not a fifth column here to destroy infidels (maybe you know of some who are). Muslims are supposed to live by the pillars of Islam and follow the Koran, but to be Muslim they only have to acknowledge one God, Allah, and Mohammed as Allah’s prophet.
If someone says that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father, that could be a working definition of “Christian,” even if the person does not fully live the Gospels (and how many Christians do?).
My guess is that a lot of Muslims are living in America because they prefer this society over one ruled by Islam.
Yes, Islam is officially hostile to Christianity, and it is a danger to us, but not all Muslims are hostile, no matter what the Koran tells them to do.
I was slightly out, actually, in my assertion that globalism happens to be the biggest threat to humankind in current history; in fact, the most imminent danger and which I believe will come to the fore over the next decade, and so as to not play it down I share with you on this very forum that I’ve lost a few winks here and there, is the quite literally terrifying OWLKITTY.
“What the heck is Owlkitty?” I wondered. I watched a few brief videos, and they made me laugh, but I think that Owlkitty is mainly a one-trick pony (or kitty), with a cat replacing a character in a parody of a movie.
Morgan, are you taking Owlkitty seriously? I’m sure that the videos are intentionally silly, and the things being parodied (Star Wars, for example) are silly in their own way.
I think you are over-thinking it. Cardinal Sarah is not saying that these are the literal beasts in Revelation. It is an expression.
If I say about someone’s return to the Church, “the prodigal son has returned,” I am not saying that this individuals is The literal one talked about in Jesus’ parable.
I know what you’re saying. I just think he’s whittering on. Of course they present world danger scenarios yet to give them biblical reference, even loosely, is to provide a neither here nor there commentary. Better not to waste words, especially in a press conference.
Pope Leo is also against gender ideology. And lgbt in general. He even refused to sit next to them on an occasion, which is something Pope Francis would have never done.
