@nero So humans are not primates?
Humans are humans and primates are primates.
Just like they say Dinosaurs existed and that we get our fuel from their bones : )
This is interesting to me. I’m looking at the taxonomic hierarchy used to classify living things on Earth. I believe the hierarchy for humans is:
Domain: Eukarya – organisms with complex, membrane-bound cells containing a nucleus <<<<<<< This would include humans.
Kingdom: Animalia (rather than Plantae for plants)– multicellular, heterotrophic organisms capable of movement at some life stage: <<<<<<< This would include humans.
Phylum: Chordata – animals with a notochord, dorsal hollow nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, and post-anal tail during development: <<<<<<< This would include humans.
Class: Mammalia – warm-blooded vertebrates with hair or fur, mammary glands for nursing young, and three middle ear bones: <<<<<<< This would include humans.
Order: Primates – mammals with flexible hands and feet, forward-facing eyes, and complex social behaviors: <<<<<<< This would include humans.
Family: Hominidae – the great apes, including humans, chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans <<<<<< Is this the classification that you don’t accept?
Genus: Homo – the genus that includes modern humans and closely related extinct species such as Homo neanderthalensis: <<<<<<< This one?
Species: Homo sapiens – anatomically modern humans, characterized by advanced cognitive abilities, language, and culture
Subspecies: Homo sapiens sapiens – the only extant subspecies of modern humans, sometimes distinguished from extinct subspecies like Homo sapiens idaltu
I am no full expert on the matter I am just an ordinary joe who reads what experts publish so forgive me any inaccuracies.
There are multiple theories and ways of how to classify living beings. Like I said, humans hunt and can sweat and they also build civilizations. Primates don’t do that.
Christianity and every religion tells us that god made us so we did not evolve from some lower animal. No we just flat out appeared. After watching the movie Prometheus I first heard of this Pan-Spermium theory. The theory is that either asteroids bring live to planets or some being be it god or angels or aliens do.
I recently read a scientific journal that claimed that live can form out of nowhere at waterfalls. Because a waterfall creates turmoil, certain molecules combine and unite and form the most primitive kind of bacteria.
But still you need intelligent design for anything to make sense. How do thermites for example know how to build a fortress that has air condition through windflow? Thermites have no intelligence to understand this and do research and so on. They are architectual geniuses. It goes further, many animals and insects and also plants are capable of things that go beyond their intelligence. Or take bees for example, many flowers only exist because they know how to attract bees and count on them to travel from flower to flower. Genes don’t just magically become smart, someone who is smart has to create them. The form of the beehive is also genius and no other form would work as well.
When you dive into human history and the big question of where we come from. There is no consensus, we simply do not know for certain or it is hidden knowledge.
I remember an interview of a jewish rabbi who claimed that humans and jews are not the same species. Also overall judaism is strange. AFAIK only jews refer to their religion also as a race and while you can technically become a jew you will always be a convert so you are not considered a full or true jew. Jews are also the inventors of the race theory, not the nazis. The nazis simply adapted it from them. Things get even more complicated. Jews are recognized by their hook nose and due to them only breeding with jews they have a high rate of inbreeding.
Inbreeding as we all know results in genetic defects that lead to sickness and defects. Like Stalin had a crippled foot. Hitler had such a defect as well and overall among world leaders who are either jew or proxy jew it is common. We are litterally led by retarded and defective people. But in their defence, all royal houses suffer from this.
Oh and jews are allowed to marry their cousin.
What is Bigfoot? Some say a human hybrid : )
I’ve been thinking about this a bit more. Namely the belief that, “if God does not exist, then nothing would matter. And if nothing “matters”, then how could killing be wrong?” In summation, the idea that “morality”, right and wrong can only originate from God.
I don’t understand that.
Humans care about and value things. Humans suffer and humans desire autonomy. The will to live is innate as is the desire to avoid harm. These are objective facts about being human. From these facts, “moral truths” can be derived. An example I can think of would be murder.
Humans do not want to be murdered. Most humans have the mental capacity to be able to recognize that others are like themselves in that regard. Therefore, collectively, humans have the intellectual capability to acknowledge and accept that murder is “wrong”, objectively, since the desire to live free from harm is an innate universal and rational “truth” grounded in shared human nature. It would be difficult to credibly conceive that such desires would change over time to humans instead desiring on an individual and on a collective basis to desire to be murdered.
Why would we have to know why we exist in order for life to have meaning? Purpose can emerge from living, value can arise from consciousness, vulnerability and relationship. Morality can arise from shared conditions of existence (e.g. humans don’t want to be murdered and can therefore collectively agree that murder is wrong).
I feel I must reiterate that I’m not an Atheist. I do not know if God exists.
The word “Good” has the word “God” in it. God is Good. Bad is not of God. And if there is no God, then there is no Good, and if there is no Good, then there is no Bad. Sounds like a riddle, but it makes sense to me.
Easy. A jewish invention to ridicule the existance of giants.
About hybrids. Ancient greek and roman and hindu religion afaik is all about gods coming to earth and raping woman for pleasure and they would get pregnant and give birth to hybrids. Hercules was one I think.
Here is a funny question for you. Did you ever hear the word Atlas and know what it stands for? (can be more than one thing)
I thoroughly enjoy the sharing of different viewpoints here.
I think the main disconnect between your point of view and mine is that you believe that meaning, value, purpose and morality must be externally assigned (ie assigned by God).
Whereas I believe that meaning can be derived from the lived experience both on an individual and collective level. The same goes for value and purpose.
Thank you for sharing your viewpoints.
Wrong on so many levels also Pax has a very naive concept of god and live.
The word good does not include the word god. Also god has a name it is GD or Jahweh or El-Shaddai and so on. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom thought me this. You know the scene with the stones that he has to step on with the letters on them.
Some jews said that christians do not have the same god the jews have. If true, things make a lot more sense.
Also I guess the angel Michael created Islam because the warlord Mohammed at least had some fight inside him while we are truly helpless. Maybe we should let them have our woman. At least the communist ones xD
If you want to understand god then watch the movie Pi. It is on Youtube and made by a jew. The main gist of it is that everything is math and it will teach you about numerology in the torah. It also teaches us that if you think hard enough about religion you go insane. That is why you people don’t do what I do, you don’t actually think hard enough about your religion.
God does not think like a human. Also he is not all knowing and not all powerful. If he was and if he gave a damn then the angels would have never revolted and Satan would have no power and there would be no reason for all biblical events.
What god is is simple. He communicates with math and created our world with math (I refrain from the word universe because I don’t like that word much especially because it is infinite and some think even that isn’t big enough so there is multiple ones…) God is light because before god there was only darkness. So we learn about duality in live which is an asian concept and you know the ying yang symbol. Light is life. The sun creates life and that is light. in darkness we die. Our body glows the strongest when we feel love and the second most strongest emotion is hate. Because without hate there is no love and those who can not hate can not love either. You need hate. Hate is necessary. Only those who hate have the power to fight. Now you think the power of love is greater beause it makes you forgive everything and everyone. But you’re supposed to forgive them after you kill them in hate.
So when a jew rapes your child you should hate him and this hate will give you the power to kill him so he can’t rape more. Then when he is dead you can forgive him with the power of love. That’s the way to do it.
If you want to know about the purpose of life that is an easy question. Easiest in the world. Ofc the jew stopps you from getting it. Telling you that it is difficult. Which it is not.
The purpose of life is to spread life and become more powerful until we win the game that is called reality. At some point we will become as powerful as god.
We don’t actually have a choice. If we do not follow this path then we will go extinct. If not by war then through a cataclysmic event. Even if we make it to live for almost an eternity, if we do not colonise other systems then one day the sun will stop shining and that will be our end.
Even if you get rid of all the evil in the world, you still have the world itself be it nature or desease or our own creations that can turn on you.
The human condition is a combination of the rational and the emotional. That means both atheism and theism are part of the same.
Next, if there’s a logical norm, it’s agnosticism, or the inability to prove that there is or there is no God. That is why both atheism and theism are driven by faith, i.e., the belief that there is no God or that there is one.
But because the human condition is a combination of the rational and the emotional, then it becomes the norm for atheism, theism, and agnosticism to be part of the same. That is why most human beings tend to think rationally sometimes, and hopeful or the opposite the next, or dismissive or stoic in the third.
This also explains why there is a such a thing as secular religion, e.g., the belief in inalienable human rights, that democracy is rational, that money or gold can be used based on intrinsic value, and so on.
Given all that, one ends up with Pascal’s wager.
What do you mean by “secular religion”? When I was young (born in 1953), the word secular meant separate from religion or not under the church, or living in the world, not apart from it. Secular priests were those such as diocesan priests who lived in society and not in, for example, a monastery. Secular didn’t necessarily imply hostility to religion, as it often seems to do today; rather, it implied treating all religions with respect, not endorsing them but not excluding them either.
I’ve heard the Founding Fathers referred to as Deists. Is Deism a secular religion? They endorsed freedom of religion, so that sounds secular to me in the sense of treating all faiths with respect without endorsing any, and they stated that unalienable rights come from our Creator. If this is a religion, I don’t see how it falls into the same category as belief in rational democracy or belief in using money based on intrinsic value.
Could you please explain this category of “secular religion” and what makes those beliefs a kind of religion whether or not they acknowledge God? Thank you.
Something that’s puzzled me about certain Atheists is their hostility towards the idea of God (as presented by Christianity and Islam) rather than ambivalence. Christopher Hitchens would be a good example. Whereas Richard Dawkins seems to be more ambivalent and his issues seem to be directed more toward religion as an institution and its impact. Hitchens viewed God as morally repugnant.
An Atheistic hostility toward the idea of God puzzles me (as an Agnostic) because the hostility is useless as well as pointless:
God is presumed to be Omnipotent. With that being the premise, it’s both useless and pointless for humans to blame, impugn or be hostile toward God. In a similar way it would be like a person shaking their fist at the sun on a blazing hot day and cursing the sun for being oppressive. Pointless, since there is literally nothing the person can do to change the sun. The difference between omnipotence and human beings is the quintessence of ultimate disparity and as such, hostility is just as futile (to the point of being ridiculous) as shaking a fist at the sun.
I like the way you think. Genuinely. There are not always only two options being compared. There is more than the binary. I appreciate your response.
Pascal’s Wager (Believe because you’re afraid of Hell) may squeak people through the door to Heaven, but Catholicism teaches that fear can’t produce authentic faith. Just something that’s noteworthy to the topic. Then again, whatever gets you there, gets you there.
A secular religion is a belief system that is not based on the supernatural. Examples are given right after I mentioned it.
I think the wager gives three options.
I think it’s heaven, hell, or nothing happening.
This reminds me of Stephen Crane’s story “The Open Boat” and wanting to throw bricks at the temple of nature and being angry that there are no bricks or temple.
