What does information relating to Trump from back in 1949 have to do with the Catholic Christian Church?

The reason that the Vatican doesn’t just let anyone who wants to to come and touch ancient documents is not for nefarious reasons, but for practical reasons. These documents are very old.

The Catholic Church is also accused by some Evangelicals of locking up Bibles so that the faithful could not read the Bible. This too is false. The reason that the Church chained the Bible is because, prior to the printing press, the Bible needed to be transcribed by monks and it was very time consuming and expensive to commission one Bible.

I don’t know how old you are, but pay phone booths used to have a phone book chained inside, so that individuals would not walk off with it and prevent many from using them. Phone books were not that expensive in the 80’s. How much more valuable is the Word of God than a list of phone numbers and addresses.

I’m 79 years old and been married for 56 years. My wife is 78 years old and was raised Catholic in New Orleans, where the population is 70% Catholic. We have seen many changes in the church, both good and bad. We have had a terrible problem with sexual abuse from Catholic priest, which has made me sick and has caused me to stop going to Mass. Since coming on this board I have to become more involved and caused me to have a change my mind on going to mass

That’s Awesome! Congratulations! My Grandparents on my Mom’s side were Married for 63 years! I am the oldest of 31 grandchildren and I’ve lost count of how many great-grandchildren!

I love that you have come back to Mass! That too is such a blessing. I agree, there has been a lot of bad news in the Church, but there has been many blessings too! I Pray for the many good Priests who still respond to God’s call, even though they are lumped in with all the bad Priests, yet, they serve Him anyways. This requires courage and grace. Thanks be to God!

If you want to know some of what’s down there, I think the Vatican website shows some (not all) rooms. Just be careful…I’m saying that cause I care.
