This passage largely flew under the radar for me, until I began learning about apologetics. It has effected me deeply in that it shows that whatever evidence may be lacking in our apologetic arguments, no one can say they don’t have proof that our Creator exists.
What about you? Is there a verse or passage of Scripture that has really impacted your life? Here’s mine:
Romans 1:18-22
The Guilt of Humankind
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse; 21 for though they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools;

Thanks so much for sharing that! I really appreciate the links too, they were helpful. I have the Didache Bible, but haven’t read the actual Didache yet, so that link will be particularly helpful.
So what was it about the Gospel of John that pierced your soul?
John speaks to the heart, which I am usually more of a head person, but the Lord must have known that I needed to hear of His love at that particular moment in time. I’ve never questioned God’s love for me, but I must have needed to hear it.
And though I like the Gospel of Matthew and Luke more than I do the Gospel of John and Mark, I appreciate the gift God gave me the first time I read John.
That’s awesome! I think I’m more of a heart person, but it’s confusing, because I see myself as an intellectual person as well. Could it be a tie with me? I don’t know.
John definitely shares Christ’s love in a profound way, I’ve found it very helpful in my life too.
Hm, so this becomes almost like testimony time then …
When I read through the Bible first time in 1994-5, one passage glued itself to my mind: John 6:53. " if not ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you". I took note that many people abandoned Jesus upon hearing that saying… About a year after, in spring 1996 I received life in my christian walk, by a prayer to Jesus to come into my life, and being set free from some things, and love opening up in a new way. I interpreted this to mean that I was now “born again”. But still, this sentence was in the back of my mind: “unless … you have no life in you”. So how could this work out? I was an evangelical then for 23 years. Only when I one day in 2017 saw a video of Scott Hahn, it suddenly clicked. He combined all the verses, and showed that this was clearly about the Eucharist. When I first read John 6:53 in 1995, I decided that I had to find out before I died what this was about. Now I stood at the door of catholicism, something I would have never believed or dreamt up. Should I now wait 25 more years for another response because I did not like the response I got? Hm, I decided to go catholic, in 2019.
Thank you for sharing all that! I personally have bounced back and forth between different denominations of Christianity. Finally, I arrived at what I would call my own personal beliefs. They are mostly Protestant I guess, but mainly they come from my study of the Bible. I’ve seen that the Bible teaches many different options, and it seems each religious system picks the one they like. So I’ve decided on what I personally believe.
