This was excellent!
I didn’t watch the video.
Who is closer to God? The one who can win an argument?
There is only one religion. Because there is only one God. Whether we call Him God, or Allah, or Jehovah, or Elohim is beside the point.
Jesus tells us what real religion is: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all of your heart, all or your mind, all of your strength.”
Therefore we have a test by which we can ascertain which religion is effective: How much is the heart of the follower or “member” filled with feelings of spontaneous love for God? That is the test of a religion. Does anyone think that a position of official membership is meaningful to Jesus?
Doesn’t Jesus say in the Bible that he will say to those who say, “I have done this in your name. And I have done that in your name.”, etc., etc. Doesn’t Jesus say, that when they come before him for final judgement, that he will say, “I never knew you.” ? In other words, Jesus wants more than Bible thumping and official affiliation. He wants us to come to the point of a living, heartfelt sense of loving reciprocation with God. And he wants us to live on that platform.
And what is symptom of one who lives on that platform? All of his “mamonistic” material desires are removed from his heart. Sex, money, possessions, nice house, nice car, social popularity, social power……..all of these things become as insignificant to such a person as dog stool. This is the real test. This is the condition of the heart of one who becomes genuinely close to God. Just like the heart of Jesus.
Muslims can say this…….and Christians can say that………but can they live like Jesus or Mohammed? Can anyone live it? Then let them begin to talk, and to preach…… by the example of their lives.
Did Jesus have sex? Did he keep a bank account? Did he have a 2026 car? Did he live in a nice house? Did he keep a nice wardrobe? Did he run for mayor or president? Did he care for social power or popularity? No! But he said, “Accept the yoke that I wear. It is very light. You will like it.” So let us accept that yoke before we begin to point out the fault of another person’s faith in God.
Thanks - I’m half-way through the video & will resume tomorrow. I’m enjoying it and finding it helpful. When I was a questioning teenager, I got hung up on the idea that God couldn’t be omnipotent since he couldn’t destroy himself - so this video really strikes a chord. Thanks for posting it.
