I think being able to believe that the Adam & Eve story is allegorical is almost a necessity. In my opinion, based on my statements previously in this thread, if the Adam & Eve story was a literal historical account, then it introduces troublesome actions on the part of God (ie setting Adam & Eve up as patsies) which in turn challenge Adam & Eve’s level of actual culpability, etc.
I do not draw the same conclusions as you do if it is literal, but you are free to believe it is allegorical. No skin off my back nor bone from my ribcage ; )
