So, this thank you was long overdue, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me onto this forum and thank you for seeing me as a person and not just another “statistic” or “lost kid.”
When I’m not on here talking to you guys, I am mostly on Tik-Tok. Now, I’ll be honest with you, I never have social media unless there’s something that draws me in. Like for example, so on Tik-Tok, they have what’s called “Tik-Tok Live” where you get on a panel and you either debate, or discuss a certain topic. And the lives that get the most attention are Theist and Atheist lives. And when I say Theist, I’m talking mostly Christian/Catholic lives. You might have someone who’s willing to debate anyone that believes in God, but it’s mostly Catholic/Christian’s.
And so, when I go on these Christian lives, it’s mostly hit or miss. And the reason why I say hit or miss is because, it depends on how I’m perceived. There is one Christian Live I go on to if I can, because I am treated with at least some respect. But I have found that on a lot of Christian Lives, I’m called everything but a white boy. I’m laughed at and in some cases even called names, and cursed at.
However…the same can be said about Atheist lives too. Most Atheists refuse to even debate me, and some have outright called me delusional for believing in a benevolent being who loves all of us. I have yet to find an Atheist live that will look past my beliefs and see me as a person.
I don’t think Catholics get told enough that what they believe does matter. That what they believe is something that is bigger and more loving than anyone can imagine. And so, thank you for allowing me to even speak in here. I know I have been rude and even callous to some of you, which is always uncalled for. I could’ve been more charitable with my words at certain points, but I’d to think this is a lesson my soul has yet to learn from. Thank you for being kind and thank you for not bullying me. It’s so nice to talk to people who are willing to have a discussion, instead of resorting to name-calling and insults. And as someone who was bullied for basically most of my life, it’s a nice change of pace to not have to be bullied by fully grown adults. Thank you sincerely!
With love,
-Jake
By the way, if you want to listen to me being on a panel, my name is Serakan Valenai on Tik-Tok.
