I went to Bible Gateway. I think this one is good

Proverbs 17:9

Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

I think its both a humble message to be understanding. But also not repeat the mistakes or the sins we try to avoid in life.

Friday’s Old Testament reading at Mass was from Isaiah 58, about the kind of fasting that pleases God: practicing charity (like fostering love, I believe), not being sinful while abstaining from food. I think this is related to Proverbs 17:9.
