In 134 days I will receive the blessing of my Baptism in the Holy day of Easter. That being said, I am currently enrolled in OCIA at my local Catholic Church. I must admit, I’m excited and anxious. One thing that’s been sticking to my mind lately is that these 134 days does not mean 134 days of slacking off waiting to really change my way of life the day of Easter. It begins now. What do I do now in terms of changing my life around? What small things should I not overlook? I ask for simple guidance and advice. God Bless!
Peace to all,
Some say a Baptism can cause a feeling of euphoric spiritual tingling or lights can be seen, I believe. Baptism transformes the flesh from mortality and Sanctifies from the spirit through the soul in the living waters for the flesh to be able to become immortality from death through resurrection glorified and transfigured in The Holy Spirit as a Family, some say, i believe, and welcome home, Nbakuzmza, through The New Eve in The Catholic Church.
Peace always,
Stephen
Welcome. I imagine that you are getting guidance in the OCIA program. I think that you are looking to become better than you are, as we all should be. I think that the prayer of St. Francis of Assissi is a good help to looking for areas in which we should be better:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
(copied from the website of the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, the cathedral of my diocese for more than 30 years, Arlington, Virginia)
Certainly to live by this prayer is a lifetime effort, but I think it can help us identify places in our life where we can improve.
I would add too that the Catholic Church is a big church with many varieties. I try to treat everybody with respect, however they pray or practice their faith, and learn from them, but I don’t let the few people who think that their way is the only right way bulldoze me (you’ll encounter some of those people if you haven’t already).
Welcome Matthew! May I ask how old you are and if you feel comfortable sharing your journey, this will help how I might respond. Also, are you more of a head person or a heart person?
The fact that you will be Baptized at the Easter Vigil is fantastic! What a gift! Know that my Prayers are with you as you Pray, Come Holy Spirit.
Are there others going through OCIA with you? When my Wife was in RCIA, it was a great group. We were more like a little family than a class. It was both heart and mind (which I think is important).
I will wait to hear more about you, before I make any suggestions on how I would recommend you prepare for Easter : )
