There are various interpretations of the 1000 year reign. Some theologians say that we are currently in it. The 1,000 number is symbolic and Christ is ruling through His Church. Others, especially Protestants, believe in a literal 1000 year reign, but differ on the timing. The most popular view among Protestants is that the 1000 year reign occurs after the 2nd coming of Christ. Christ returns to the earth, rules from Jerusalem for 1000 years, and then the Final Judgement.
