I’m a convert into Catholicism; not a “cradle Catholic”. Raised non-denomination by my Mom (and 6 other siblings), attended a Protestant church as a youth. The one meaningful thing I learned as a youth is the importance saying/praying grace before meals. (“God id good. God is great. Let us thank Him for this food. Amen”)
In Mid-1990’s I discovered Catholicism after experiencing spiritual and doctrinal conflict with various protestant pastors from “Christian” denominations (Pentecostal, Baptist, Lutheran, Evangelical, Methodist, etc.). These interior conflicts occurred as I visited each of these denominational churches with each of their pastors claiming to be Bible believing and that all other Christian denominations were wrong in regard to their doctrinal beliefs. Yet each denominational church claimed to led by the Holy Spirit. I knew something was wrong, (protestant fragmentation) which inspired me to find/search for the original church who had authentic teachings of the Apostles, according to the New Testament. Then I found the Catholic Church.
My questions about Catholicism were posed to a lay Catholic. Edward is his name. And he was very patient with me during my journey, leading me to RCIA.
Today I am 100% Catholic and abide by all what Churches’ teachings. I may not understand all the Catholic doctrines, rites, and culture – but I do obey them as best as possible. I discovered that the Church isn’t here for the purpose to condemn, control, and judge people, but rather to guide us towards living and believing the fullness of salvation.
Peace be with you all. +
