I have read all of the New Testament a few times, but not all of the Old Testament.

Protestants would benefit from reading the 7 books that are not in their Protestant Bible. And re-reading The Septuagint version of Esther, where it includes Prayers to God, where as the Hebrew version in most Protestant Bibles do not mention God.

And if you have never read Esther, it is like an episode of “The Bachelor” : )

I’ve read the whole thing once, probably twice, and parts of it many times.

I have a guy in my Men’s Bible Study who makes it a point to read the entire Bible each year as part of his 23 years of sobriety. He replaced drinking alcohol with reading The Bible and never stopped doing it. I think it’s awesome!

I used to read it a lot when I was an evangelical. The mindset was almost, that no church had it right, and that you had to study out your salvation all by yourself.

It was a relief when I discovered Scott Hahn, and later other writers like Brant Pitre, Jon Bergsma, and Jimmy Akin. Now what was so relieving was that I experienced that their interpretations were thoroughly biblical, and they even took me deeper. For the first time I had “bigger brothers”, someone who could educate me on Bible understanding. That is a nice thing.
