I stopped eating sweets many years ago to help keep my blood sugar under control. We have other treats in our household, but we don’t do anything special to splurge before Lent.
I didn’t even know what these were until I started working where I work and my Protestant customer brought some in. I’m not even sure they observe the season of Lent or if they just like to consume sweets : )
I’m giving up Pizza this Lent (except when we have board game nights), so I ordered Pizza from two different pizza places last night to prepare my mind for this Lenten sacrifice.
Protestants and Lent: I thought Lent was all ours until some years ago outside a Metro station in Alexandria, Virginia, where I saw a Protestant minister giving ashes.
This Lent, as always, I will be cutting back on snacks, and also bad habits that I have fallen into. At the University that I work. There is a Anglican chaplain, from what I gather, they are not at the same level of intensity level as Catholics during the season of Lent.
