Can a priest curse an object (for rightful reasons)?
Context: Suppose that a sacred object, like a chalice, is stolen from a church and a priest wishes to protect the object from unauthorized ownership. So, he curses the object to bring misfortune to its owners.
Remark: What brought this to my attention was the infamous ‘Hope Diamond’ which was a stolen gemstone that was cursed and brought bad luck to its owners.
“Time and chance happen to them all” (Ecclesiastes 9:11-12). I think this indicates that not every incident in our lives is ordained by God. A good friend whom I met when we were both train commuters is a devout Christian. Sometimes a train would be delayed and another would not. I told my friend that I didn’t think it was God’s choice that the hundreds of people on one train would be delayed and the hundreds of people on another would not. I said I thought this was an occasion of time and chance happening to us all.
As for cursing objects, I believe it can be done. If cursing abortion machines would stop them from working, I say, please go ahead and curse them.

I recall a similar story about a watch that belonged to a Wife of a President’s relative (I can’t remember who, but I think it was a Kennedy). I know she was an actress though. Strange things happened to her Husband and then to her second Husband after the first Husband’s passing. I believe her daughter inherited the watch and men around her were getting sick, so she contacted an auction-house to sell the watch. There was a bidding war and it turns out the watch was purchased by one of the Kardashians! When they caught wind that the watch could be cursed, they sold the watch back to the auction-house and I believe it is now in the hands of the Company who made the watch and may be be in an exhibit of famously owned Cartiers.
