My partner is trying to get back to his faith and look at his son joining our local church. I am trying to find out what process he would have gone through for confirmation and communion back in 2005, e.g. how often he would have attended sessions and over what period, he was already baptised and says he did his communion and confirmation during school. Any help would be appreciated.
Welcome Kate98 to the forum! Every parish runs a program called OCIA which is for those who have not received all the sacraments. If you need replacement certificates you can contact the diocese in which those initial sacraments were received, Finally, set up a meeting with your parish priest and make a good confession.
When I hear the word “partner,” I think of same-sęx couples. But, I also know the younger generations use this word to describe heterosęxual relationships as well.
It’s like how the older generation refers to their friends who are girls as “girlfriends” and it makes me question of they are lęsbians.
Anyway, are you engaged to this individuals (of the opposite sęx)? Or are you Married? Living together?
Though the Catholic Christians Church keeps some records, we are not as good at keeping records as say the LDS Church is. If the individual was Baptized and Confirmed, both of those should be on file at the Parish/Diocese where he received these Sacraments. But how many times he/she attended the preparation for these Sacraments are likely not kept, if recorded.
I would start by contacting the Parish Office of the Church where one received the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation & First Holy Communion).
Hope this helps : )
