Peace to all,
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs,
but one soldier thrust his lance into his side,
and immediately Blood and water flowed out.
The Early Church Fathers like Augustine viewed the outflow of blood and water as metaphorically representing the Church itself—born from the side of Christ, just as Eve was created from the side of Adam. In this sense, the spear that inflicted the wound also symbolically participates in the birth of the Church, through Baptism marking it as a tool used in the divine plan for humanity’s salvation from Sacrifice through Penance becoming forgiven in Both Natures.
The First Christ reborn to Heaven is From Earth immortalized from the Living Waters Baptized for The New Eve in The Christ through the Catholic Church for all souls becoming through the Flesh in the Christ.
Peace always,
Stephen
