I would like to hear Him, in my life right now, as I struggle with various things. I’ve asked Him recently to let me know how He sees me. Am I doing the right things? Am I understanding things correctly?

I’m not good at perceiving things that “I should just know”. (Just ask my ex-wife). I need to be told things straight out.

Any thoughts? Any special prayers for asking to hear His voice?

I acknowledge that perhaps He _is_ talking to me but either I’m not listening or He is communicating with me in a way that I’ve not discerned yet.

> Sometimes Catholics blithely throw around the term ‘dark night of the soul.’ It's worth knowing the context of this important concept.

You might be experiencing a In Catholic spirituality, the **Dark Night of the Soul** (_noche oscura del alma_) is a deep, mystical phase of spiritual purification initiated by God to strip away worldly attachments, self-reliance, and emotional consolations, drawing the soul into a pure, unselfish union with Him. It feels like a punishment but it is most assuredly a gift. Keep praying to hear Him. Remember;

_“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”_
