Does anyone who is familiar with Maundy Thursday, the day during Holy Week which commemorates the last supper of the Messiah with the apostles know which part of Thursday that this took place - during the night time of the first half of Thursday, or during the daytime of the second half of Thursday?

So, sometime during the first half of Thursday?

So, then there would have been the rest of Thursday night time, the whole of Thursday daytime, the whole of Friday night time , and 3 hours of Friday daytime when the crucifixion took place.

Soul,

Your link - Chapter 597 said - “The Thursday Evening before Passover.”

Thursday evening would be the first half of Thursday followed by the daytime of the second half of Thursday. If that is indeed correct, then that is the answer to the OP.

The meal was a Passover supper celebrated on the night before Christ’s crucifixion.Because the Jewish day begins at sunset, the supper held on Thursday night is closely linked to the start of the events of Good Friday. The evening featured the Washing of the Feet (Mandatum) and the institution of the Holy Eucharist. The day is called Maundy Thursday, derived from the Latin _[mandatum](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=mandatum&sei=swXHaaPDNeCsp84Pm6KV0AM&dlnr=1&mstk=AUtExfC2clDIJKb_BCvjiXGtvIFqMy_NnbG8GvEFQenYhKnYlk_UVTqD0Wir1zI_WLCYszb0vKEvQm7p4eKMecB_h8pVbC6nixaWJC06pX7jwIfxKuUA_P92eHTkzwwouyuVM6k&csui=3&ved=2ahUKEwjr_b25kcGTAxXg5skDHW01MtwQgK4QegQIBBAB)_ (commandment), reflecting Jesus’ words to his disciples during this evening meal.

**MANDATUM**

The washing of the feet in the Liturgy of Holy Thursday. In the revised ritual the washing of the feet takes placed after the Gospel, which narrates the same event at the Last Supper. The men who have been chosen are led to chairs prepared for them. Then the priest goes to each man, pours water over each one’s feet, and dries them. Meanwhile the choir or congregation sings a number of antiphons from the appropriate Gospel account in St. John. The ceremony is called the _mandatum_ because it was on the occasion of washing his disciples’ feet that Christ gave us the new commandment (_novum mandatum_) to love one another as he has loved us (John 13:4-17). (Etym. Latin _mandatum,_ commission, order.)

PeterGeorge,
re: “The meal was a Passover supper celebrated on the night before Christ’s crucifixion.”

The night before a Friday crucifixion would be the first half of Friday. Maundy Thursday says the supper was on Thursday.

(Holy Thursday) commemorates the Last Supper, held on Thursday evening, which technically begins the Jewish liturgical day of Friday (starting at sunset). Catholic tradition places this meal on Thursday evening, followed by Jesus’ agony in the garden, arrest, and subsequent Friday crucifixion, adhering to the traditional Friday-Sunday Resurrection timeline.

In the Catholic Church its called the **Easter Triduum** or **Paschal Triduum** in the Roman Catholic tradition. Its not concerned with time lines.

The Easter Triduum is the

three-day liturgical period from Holy Thursday evening to Easter Sunday evening, marking the summit of the liturgical year by celebrating the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. It includes three main services: the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, the Good Friday Passion Service, and the Easter Vigil.

**One Liturgical Day:** Although spanning three days, the Triduum is considered a single, continuous liturgical celebration of the Paschal Mystery.

**Mass of the Lords Supper {Holy Thursday):** Focuses on the institution of the Eucharist, the priesthood, and the washing of feet.

**Good Friday of the Lords passion :** A day of fasting, not technically a Mass, featuring the reading of the Passion, Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion (from hosts consecrated on Thursday).

**Easter vigil (Holy Saturday Night):** The high point of the year, celebrating the Resurrection with light, word, water, and Eucharist.

The Triduum marks the end of Lent and moves directly into the Joy of Easter followed by Divine Mercy Sunday.

PeterGeorge,
re: “Mass of the Lords Supper {Holy Thursday): Focuses on the institution of the Eucharist, the priesthood, and the washing of feet.”

And apparently the Church doesn’t have an opinion on when the Supper took place - during the night time of the first half of Thursday, or during the daytime of the second half of Thursday.

PeterGeorge,
re: “It takes place in the evening on Thursday…don’t ask me again.”

No need to since you said it occurred in the evening which would mean that it was during the night time of the first half of the calendar day.
