How am I “bad willed”?
I guess I am younger than you. Thank you for sharing something about yourself. I appreciate that.
Very charitable of you.
Okay.
Could be a lie or he is just wrong.
I agree that we should not blame all Jews who were not there shouting “Crucify Him” anymore than you should be held accountable for owning slaves if your ancestors owned slaves.
The part about “Jews shouldn’t be presented as rejected or accused by God…” Is this in refence to what he had said in the sentence prior or as an independent thought? If the latter, then I would disagree with him there too.
In order to reject belief, one must first be presented something to reject. So for someone who has heard the Gospel and rejects Him, they have already judged themselves, but someone who has not heard the Gospel and does not believe, this would not apply to them.
Again, I say Amen! And you are correct that Hebrews was specifically written to a community of Jewish Christians.
Again I say Amen!
[quote]
Matthew 21:4-43: “Jesus saith to them: Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? By the Lord this has been done; and it is wonderful in our eyes. Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof.”
Amen! This is all true.
Yep!
I don’t know that he said this.
John Paul commissioned the Catechism. I believe Cardinal Ratzinger was asked to chair the 12-member commission tasked with drafting the text by Pope John Paul II in 1986.
In one sense, this is true. Jesus says in Matthew 5:17, “Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”
So in this sense, the Old Covenant has never been revoked, but rather fulfilled.
But, I agree with you that modern Jews who reject Jesus Christ are not saved under the Old Covenant. Catholics neither believe in Replacement Theology nor Bi- Covenantalism.
Right. Exactly what I just said.
You and I do not disagree on these matters. I have not read the document that you are drawing from in full context, so I cannot say if your interpretation or presentation of what is said are accurate. But, if how you have presented these are accurate, then I agree that what is said there is in error. Encyclicals are not infallible teaching. There are things in Pope Francis’ first Encyclical that I also found problematic, but Pope Francis was problematic.
