There are some folks who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week. The Messiah said that He would be in the “heart of the earth” for 3 days and 3 nights (Matthew 12:40). Of those who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week, there are some who think that the “heart of the earth” mentioned in the verse is referring to the tomb. However, a 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection allows for only 2 nights to be involved with the Messiah’s time in the tomb. To account for the lack of a 3rd night, there may be some of those mentioned above who try to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language.

And that is the only issue of this topic, i.e., the commonality of saying that a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have occurred. I wonder if anyone who may fall in the above group of believers might provide actual examples/instances to support the belief of commonality.

That would be an issue for a different topic. Perhaps you might start one.

StephenAndrew,

Did you ever start a new topic?

How do you get a third night with a 6th day of the week crucifixion?

BTW, I didn’t mean start a new topic within this one.

re: “Thanks again do you think it was a Saturday crucifixion?”

No. Why do you ask?

re: "To me the sixth day of the week is Friday…:

Which is the day I was referring to when I wrote sixth day of the week crucifixion. I was simply wondering how you arrive at a third night with a sixth day of the week crucifixion/first day of the week resurrection?

re: “To you, What day of the week is Sunday?”

The first day of the week.

re: “Jesus, Crucifixion was on a Friday, 6th day… and resurrection for all is on… Sunday, the first day of the Week. So Heaven was opened on the Third night, Sunday…”

So, I ask again, how do you arrive at a third night with that time frame? Where is the third night?

re: “Monday is the second day of the week. Right?”

That is correct. What is your point?

re: “Thanks, this to me is New Covenant fulfilled…what’s your thoughts?”

You said the crucifixion took place on a Friday with the resurrection taking place on a Sunday. Saturday night would be the first night and Sunday night would be the second night. How do you reconcile the lack of the third night?

You write in post #15: “The Crucifixion began on Holy Thursday…”

In post #2 you wrote: “Friday, crucifixion Saturday center of earth and Sunday the resurrection, seems logical to me.”

You now say that Thursday was the day of the crucifixion. Is that now your new position? If yes, then there is no problem arriving with at least a portion of each one of 3 nights.

re: “Saturday night becomes the third night and Friday night is the second night.”

Actually, with a Thursday death at around 3pm, Friday night would be the first night.

Thursday night had been over some 9 hours by the time of the Messiah’s death, so you can’t count that as the first night.

Also, you didn’t answer if you had changed your mind from a Friday crucifixion to a Thursday crucifixion.

StephenAndrew,
The Triduum began on Thursday so Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night are the three nights.

OK, so you _have_ changed your mind from a Friday crucifixion to a Thursday crucifixion.

Also, why have you left out Sunday night?

And again, Thursday night had been over at least 9 hours by the time of the burial.

StephenAndrew,
re: “Thursday was the Last Supper and the first night.”

How could Thursday night be the first night of the Messiah’s prophesy that He would be in the “heart of the earth” for 3 nights if He wasn’t buried until late in the afternoon on Friday?

StephenAndrew,
re: “…it looks like Jerusalem is referred to as the Tomb…”

But for the purpose of this topic, the heart of the earth is defined as the tomb as indicated in the OP.

re: “The Triduum began on Thursday so Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night are the three nights.”

And Sunday night would have been the 4th night.

StephenAndrew,

So, that would mean that the resurrection occurred on Saturday afternoon? That He was not in the tomb on any portion of Sunday night?

StephenAndrew,
re: “True, whatever time Mary Magdalene recognized the body being missing Saturday.”

But that would mean the resurrection took place on the seventh day of the week and not the first day of the week.

StephenAndrew,
re: “Perhaps Friday night till Saturday AM…”

Friday night had been over some 12 hours when Saturday began.

re: “…the evening of Friday night before Saturday when Mary arrived…”

But several scriptures say she arrived on the first of the week.

re: “…sometime between those times, death and resurrection becoming again.”

I don’t understand what you’re saying.

Well, based on my last post, they could be a possible explanation. Unfortunately, what I wrote was poorly conceived and not what I was actually looking for. So, that’s my bad. Sorry for causing you to spend time on coming up with the suggestions.
